Quality Assurance in Chemical, Medical and Microbiological Laboratories

Overview

This in-person workshop was intended to give a good overview of the key technical elements in laboratory quality assurance in chemical, medical and microbiological laboratories. Session topics included:

  • Equipment, Software and Method Validation
  • Metrological Traceability and Uncertainty Evaluation
  • Internal Quality Control (IQC)
  • Proficiency Testing (PT) / External Quality Assurance (EQA)

The workshop attracted 52 registered participants in total from 18 different countries, both within and outside Europe. The event featured ten keynote speakers and six contributed talks, as well as panel discussions and poster sessions.

Intended audience

The workshop will be relevant to anyone involved in measurements and testing processes in the chemical, medical or microbiological laboratories, for example: laboratory technicians and managers; measurement instrument manufacturers; representatives of accreditation bodies, metrology institutes and standardisation bodies; technical assessors and customers of laboratory services.

Invited Contributions and Posters

The Scientific Committee of the Workshop invites participants to submit abstracts on related topics. Abstracts presented according to the format available from the website shall be submitted before 7th April 2024. Submitting authors are asked to indicate their preference for an oral or poster presentation. Proposed abstracts will be subject to approval as a short oral (contributed talk) or poster presentation by the Scientific Committee (SC).
