Eurachem supports Science for Peace and Development (World Day 10th of November)

This 10th November, Eurachem marks the World Science Day for Peace and Development. This international day was established in 2001 by UNESCO, to raise awareness about the importance of scientific knowledge to face, in a constructive way, the multiple challenges affecting human societies so far. The UN 2030 Agenda focuses on 17 objectives, all of them aiming to support peace and development and all of them requiring support from scientific knowledge. This article describes how Eurachem helps to promote science for sustainable development.

World Food Safety Day on 7 June 2024 draws attention to food safety incidents. This year’s theme underlines the importance of being prepared for food safety incidents, no matter how mild or severe they can be. This short article discusses the role of non-targeted methods of analysis in food safety, and what Eurachem is doing to support its use.

Eurachem proudly supports Codex at 60 - Sixty years of the Codex Alimentarius

7th June is World Food Safety Day, chosen this year also as a key date for celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Codex Alimentarius (https://www.fao.org/fao-who-codexalimentarius/en/). The theme of the day is “Food standards save lives”, stressing the point that foodborne illness is almost entirely preventable, if appropriate measures are implemented to keep food safe.

World Standards Day 2022

Eurachem supports the “shared vision for a better world”

October 14 has been designated as World Standards Day, organised by IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission), ISO (International Organization for Standardization) and ITU (International Telecommunication Union) with the aim of celebrating the power of standardization. This year, the three organizations have invited all public and private partners to join efforts towards “A shared vision for a better world” promoting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and addressing social imbalances, developing a sustainable economy and slowing the rate of climate change1,2.

Proficiency Testing and Accreditation

In 2022 we mark World Accreditation Day on June 9th, with this year’s theme of “Accreditation: Sustainability in Economic Growth and the Environment”. This year, we explain how proficiency testing helps to support laboratory acceditation, and hence support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
